Drug peddler arrested in Pulwama

Srinagar, Jan 22: In its continued crackdown against drug menace, Police in Pulwama achieved a major success during routine naka checking at Circular Road near Tahab Crossing.

According to a statement, during the checking, a person carrying a nylon bag was intercepted by the Naka Party of Police Station Pulwama. During search, contraband substance including Charas-Chura like substance weighing 1.760 kilograms and Charas powder-like substance weighing 475 grams was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Chat son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Dangerpora, A/P Rangmullah, who was instantly arrested.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 12/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pulwama, and investigation has been taken up to trace the source and forward/backward linkages of the seized contraband.

J&K Police reiterates its firm resolve to continue sustained action against drug peddlers and appeals to the public to cooperate by sharing credible information to help eliminate the drug menace from the society—(KNO)
