16th National Voters Day observed at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 25: An impressive function  was organized by District Administration Udhampur in the premises of DC Office Complex to celebrate the 16th National Voter’s Day on the theme ”My India, My Vote” with the tagline “Citizen at the Heart of the Indian Democracy. “

Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Prem Singh, as per an official statement, was the chief guest while Additional Senior Superintendent of Police, Sandeep Bhat was the guest of honour and Deputy District Election Officer, Babu Pardeep Kumar presided over the programme on the occasion.

 PO Poshan, Subash Dogra, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dr Umesh Shan, Assistant Commissioner Development, Om Parkash along with senior officers, prominent citizens, BLOs and students of various educational institutions attended the programme.

 Dy DEO presented a welcome address and highlighted the importance of the National voter’s day. He also administered a pledge to all the participants to uphold the dignity of elections and vote in the elections without any fear, inducement or influence.

 The ADC distributed EPIC cards to electors registered in the electoral rolls for the first time. He said that the main objective of celebrating this day is to strengthen our democratic system by creating awareness among the young and future voters about the importance of their vote and hence involving their greater participation in the whole electoral system.

He also appreciated the tireless efforts made by Dy DEO and his team for organizing this impressive function.

During the programme, students of various educational institutions and folk artists presented theme based cultural performances and awareness skits, which were highly appreciated by the participants.

Later, the chief guest flagged off a rally from the DC Office Complex to further spread the message of voter awareness across the district.
