Ramban, Jan 25: The District Administration Ramban, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner (District Election Officer) Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, celebrated the 16th National Voters’ Day (NVD) with enthusiasm and active participation across the district.

 

The District level programme was held at the conference hall, Maitra and was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Varunjeet Singh Charak, in the presence of ACR Shokat Hayat Mattoo, Dy. DEO Sayed Mazahir Hussain Shah, ACD Sheraz Ahmed and other senior officers. The event was attended by prominent citizens, new voters, PWD voters,  officials, students and stakeholders.

 

During the programme, CEO Mohammad Sultan Khan administered the Voters’ Pledge, urging participants to be sincere, impartial, fearless and responsible voters and reaffirming their commitment to strengthening Indian democracy.

 

Meanwhile, students from various schools participated in a debate competition on the theme “My India, My Vote,” highlighting the importance of electoral participation and civic responsibility among the youth.

 

Addressing the gathering, ADC, Varunjeet Singh Charak recalled that National Voters’ Day marks the foundation day of the Election Commission of India (ECI). He encouraged eligible youth to enroll as voters and obtain their EPIC cards, describing it as a document of pride for every Indian citizen.

 

He also lauded the dedicated efforts of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Supervisors, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) for ensuring the smooth conduct of electoral processes.

 

Deputy DEO, Sayed Mazahir Hussain Shah highlighted the various voter awareness activities conducted across the district and elaborated on the significance of the day, the achievements of the ECI and the vital role of elections in a democracy. The speakers urged citizens, particularly the youth, to motivate their families and communities to participate actively in elections.

 

Certificates of appreciation were distributed by the ADC and other dignitaries to officers and BLOs for their exemplary contributions. Students who excelled in the debate competitions were also felicitated.

 

Following the main event, a massive voters’ awareness rally was flagged off by the ADC from the District Administrative Complex Maitra. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from citizens, students, officers & stakeholders and culminated at Maitra Chowk.

 

National Voters’ Day was also celebrated at sub-divisional, tehsil and institutional levels across Ramban, with awareness programmes organized in educational and vocational institutions to promote informed and inclusive voter participation.
