Srinagar, Feb 10: A meeting of District Level Committee on Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was Tuesday held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo here at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office to review the ongoing anti-drug measures and efforts to curb drug abuse and and drug trafficking in the district. At the outset, the meeting conducted a comprehensive review of inter-agency coordination to combat drug abuse, including identification of drug hotspots, confiscation of vehicles under NDPS and ongoing anti-drug IEC activities, particularly in educational institutions to sensitize youth about the illicit effects of narcotics.

The meeting was informed that, as per the directions of the NCORD Committee, the District Administration in coordination with the Police and other stakeholder departments, has launched a massive crackdown on drug peddlers and drug trafficking.

He stated that drug peddlers will face criminal prosecution, disqualification of licences, blacklisting of vehicles and other punishments as warranted under law.
