KATHUA, FEBRUARY 21: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma on Saturday chaired a meeting to discuss preparatory arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY), 2026.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner, as per an official statement, reviewed in detail the logistics to be put in place at the Lakhanpur Yatri Facilitation Centre and allied locations to ensure smooth movement and comfortable stay of pilgrims. Threadbare discussions were held regarding augmentation of basic amenities including sanitation, water and power supply, lodging facilities, traffic management and healthcare arrangements.

The meeting also deliberated on strengthening and upgrading facilities at the identified lodgement centres to cater to the anticipated influx of yatris. The concerned departments were directed to prepare a comprehensive and time-bound action plan, clearly outlining the activities and works to be undertaken so that timely projections could be submitted to higher authorities for necessary approvals and support.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers of Municipalities, PWD, PDD, PHE, RDD, Animal Husbandry and Information Department to work in close coordination and ensure meticulous planning for seamless execution of arrangements, aimed at providing a pleasant and hassle-free yatra experience to the pilgrims.

Among others, ADC Vishavjeet Singh, CPO Ranjeet Thakur, ACD Akhil Sadotra and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
