A group of 20 students from Kashmir visited the Resident Commission of Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi as part of the “Bharat Darshan-2026” programme, an initiative of the Ministry for Home Affairs.

The visit, as per an official statement, was a key part of their educational tour, aimed at broadening their understanding of the National Capital’s governance and administrative systems.

It was organized to acquaint the students with the functioning of government institutions outside the Union Territory and to provide insight into the role of the Resident Commission in facilitating coordination between the Government of Jammu & Kashmir and various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India.

The interaction session was conducted under the supervision of Anil Sharma, Additional Resident Commissioner. He addressed the students and highlighted the mandate, objectives and key responsibilities of the Resident Commission in New Delhi.

During the session, the students learned about the Resident Commission’s crucial role in liaising with Central Ministries and national agencies, facilitating official visits and handling administrative matters for the Union Territory. They were also briefed on the management of J&K Government properties and Guest Houses in Delhi, support services for citizens and officials from Jammu & Kashmir and the significance of institutional representation in safeguarding the Union Territory’s interests.

The interaction was informative and engaging, with the students actively participating and expressing enthusiasm in understanding the governance systems and national-level administrative mechanisms.

The Resident Commission reiterated its continued commitment to youth engagement initiatives, fostering awareness about governance, national integration and public service.

The visit concluded with a group interaction and exchange of best wishes for the students’ future endeavours.
