Udhampur, Mar 07:  Under the guidance of Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman DLSA Udhampur Kalpana Revo, alongside Sub-Judge and Secretary DLSA Udhampur Sumati Sharma, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organised a series of awareness programmes across the district on Saturday.

The events aimed to mark International Women’s Day and spread awareness regarding women’s rights and issues related to violence against women.

DLSA Udhampur organised the first programme in collaboration with Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur. The event aimed to sensitise students and the public about women’s rights and the various welfare schemes available for their protection and empowerment. Secretary DLSA Udhampur delivered the welcome address, highlighting the achievements of women across different fields.

Advocate Sanjeet Bavouria, acting as the resource person, spoke about the significance of International Women’s Day. He highlighted the legal rights of women and discussed various government schemes meant for their welfare.

College Principal Dr Udhey Bhanu attended the programme along with the teaching staff and students. Participants actively interacted and discussed issues faced by women in society.

DLSA Udhampur organised another awareness programme in collaboration with the One Stop Centre Udhampur. This session sensitised participants about women’s rights, legal remedies for those facing violence and the support services provided by the One Stop Centre for women in distress.

Subsequently, DLSA Udhampur, in collaboration with the Adhivakta Parishad team Udhampur, conducted an awareness programme at District Jail Udhampur. Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel (LADC) Advocate Pawan Gupta acted as the resource person and sensitised the inmates. He emphasised the importance of creating a safe and respectful environment for women and encouraged participants to stand against discrimination and violence. He also informed the gathering about the free legal aid services provided by the Legal Services Authority to eligible sections of society.

Public Prosecutors Shalini Gupta and Divya Rajput, deputed by DLSA Udhampur, attended the programmes to assist in spreading legal awareness.

During the events, Paralegal Volunteer (PLV) Rajni Sharma received a Certificate of Appreciation for her services and contribution towards legal awareness activities conducted by DLSA Udhampur at the One Stop Centre.

Tehsil Legal Services Committees (TLSC) in Ramnagar and Chenani organised similar awareness programmes to mark International Women’s Day.
