Day temps likely to fall by 4–6°C after March 9

Srinagar, Mar 07: The Meteorological Department has forecast generally cloudy weather with light rain and snowfall in higher reaches at several places in Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days.

According to the MeT office in Srinagar, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy between March 7 and 9, with light rain and snowfall in higher reaches at isolated places.

From March 10 to 12, the region is likely to witness generally cloudy conditions with light rain and snowfall in higher reaches at many places.

The department, as per the news agency – Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said some higher reaches of Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Anantnag districts may receive moderate snowfall during this period.

Between March 13 and 15, the weather is likely to remain generally cloudy with light rain and snowfall in higher reaches at isolated places. Similar conditions are expected to continue between March 16 and 17.

The MeT office has advised farmers to suspend farm operations between March 10 and 12 in view of the forecast.

It also said day temperatures are likely to fall by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius at many places after March 9 and may remain lower till March 12.

According to the MeT data, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 24.5 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 10.5 degrees Celsius.

Gulmarg recorded a maximum of 16.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum of minus 2.0 degrees Celsius. Jammu recorded a maximum temperature of 31.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 19.1 degrees Celsius. (KNO)
