BUDGAM, OCTOBER 16: In preparation for the upcoming Bye-Elections to the 27-Budgam Assembly Constituency, a comprehensive training programme for polling staff was successfully conducted Thursday at Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall Budgam, Government Degree College Budgam, and Town Hall Budgam.

The training was organized under the overall supervision of the District Election Officer (DEO)/Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, as part of the Election Commission of India’s mandate to ensure the smooth, transparent, and efficient conduct of the electoral process.

A total of 540 employees, drawn from different departments across the district, were trained during the session. The trainees included Presiding Officers, Polling Officers, and other staff who will be deployed at various polling stations for the bye-elections to the 27-Budgam Assembly Constituency.

During the training, officials were sensitized about their roles and responsibilities on poll day, including procedures related to EVM and VVPAT handling, mock polls, sealing and transport of machines, voter identification protocols, polling station management, and maintenance of transparency throughout the process.

Master Trainers from the election department and technical experts from NIC and election cells conducted detailed demonstrations on the operation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) systems, ensuring that all polling personnel are well-equipped to manage the polling process effectively.

The training programme concluded with a hands-on practical session and mock demonstration on the proper handling and operation of EVMs and VVPATs to ensure complete understanding of the polling procedures.
