MLA Pulwama inaugurates One-Day Job fair

PULWAMA, MARCH 24: District Administration Pulwama, in collaboration with the District Employment and Counselling Centre Pulwama, Tuesday organised a one-day job fair at Government Degree College (Boys) Pulwama, aimed at promoting employment opportunities, entrepreneurship, and self-employment among the youth of the district.

The programme, as per an official statement, was attended by the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Pulwama, Waheed Ur Rehman Para. The job fair witnessed an enthusiastic response from the youth, with more than a hundred participants shortlisted by around 16 companies that participated in the event.

Addressing the gathering, the MLA encouraged the youth to explore opportunities in the self-employment sector and strive to become job providers. He urged them to focus on skill development to bridge the gap between industry requirements and the available workforce.

On the occasion, the MLA also inspected stalls set up by various departments, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Sheep Husbandry, Handicrafts, Handloom, Fisheries, NRLM, and Industries, showcasing different self-employment schemes.

 These stalls provided detailed information on scheme benefits, financial assistance, and application procedures to facilitate and encourage aspiring entrepreneurs. Furthermore, the MLA distributed sanction letters among beneficiaries under Mission YUVA.

Among others, the programme was attended by Principal, Government Degree College (Boys) Pulwama; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Pulwama; Assistant Director Employment, Pulwama; District Employment Officer; Career Counselling Officer (CCO), besides other senior officers from the Employment Department and other concerned departments.
