Says efforts intensified against drug trafficking

Srinagar, Mar 25: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday said that 4,491 kilograms of narcotic substances were seized in Jammu and Kashmir during 2025

Replying to an unstarred question raised by Shyamkumar Daulat Barve in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that drug seizures in Jammu and Kashmir stood at 11,066 kg in 2023, 5,708 kg in 2024, and 4,491 kg in 2025, as per data compiled by the Narcotics Control Bureau

The government informed the House that foreign-based elements are involved in facilitating narco-terrorism by pushing narcotics across borders to generate funds for terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir

It further said that 292 drones/unmanned aerial vehicles were seized or recovered along the Indo-Pakistan border in 2025, indicating the growing use of drones for cross-border smuggling.

The minister also stated that 66 fugitives wanted in drug-related cases have been identified. A total of 24 Red Notices and 25 Blue Notices have been issued against them, while five fugitives were deported from various countries during 2025. (KNO)
