Srinagar, Apr 02: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday said that no specific proposal is currently under consideration for sanctioning new Animal Husbandry Centres in Kangan constituency.
Replying to an Unstarred Assembly Question by MLA Mian Mehar Ali, the Agriculture Production Department (Animal/Sheep Husbandry & Fisheries) informed that the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying has recently issued guidelines for minimum standards of veterinary infrastructure in India.
The government said these guidelines lay down benchmark norms for veterinary infrastructure, human resources and range of services to be provided at veterinary institutions.
“In alignment with these guidelines, the department is presently undertaking a comprehensive assessment of the existing network of veterinary hospitals and institutions to evaluate their adequacy in meeting livestock healthcare requirements,” the reply stated.
It added that, as of now, no specific proposal has been finalised for opening new Animal Husbandry Centres in the Kangan constituency.
Regarding financial outlay and timeline, the government said that no details related to funding, staffing pattern or implementation schedule have been finalized at this stage.
The reply further stated that any future proposal for establishment of new centres will be formulated as per prescribed guidelines, subject to assessment of need, availability of resources and approval of the competent authority—(KNO)
