Govt Departments, others owe whopping Rs 3,747 crore to KPDCL,  JPDCL

Srinagar, Apr 02: In Jammu and Kashmir, government departments and security establishments owe a whopping Rs 3,747 crore to the government on account of unpaid power dues.

The government on Thursday informed the house that there was an outstanding Rs 3747.3542 crores power dues of all its departments viz-a-viz security establishments.

In a reply to the queries regarding the department-wise, the total amount of outstanding and recoverable power dues of all its departments viz-a-viz security establishments in the Union Territory and the steps taken for its recovery and realization, the government said that in the out of the total unpaid Rs 3747.3542 crores, Rs 2310.2241 crores was recorded in KPDCL and Rs 1,437.1301 crores from JPDCL.

It also said that the DISCOMS are vigorously following with the defaulting departments for recovery of the outstanding power dues.

The government said that PHE Department owe a whopping Rs 13,0043 to the government followed by Rs 58059.72 lakhs of Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Rs 24163.80 lakhs of Jammu Municipalities, Rs 19719.94 lakhs of the Army, Rs 1116.87 lakhs of the BSF and Rs 29638.45 lakhs of CRPF.

The government also said that J&K Cements owe Rs 5400.71 lakhs to the government, Home Department with Rs 22306.46 lakhs, Housing and Urban Development Department with Rs 14449.47 lakhs, Health and Medical Education Department with Rs 11989.31, Revenue and Relief Department with Rs 8227.64 lakhs and MISC with Rs 2160 lakhs.

Furthermore, the government also informed the house that Power Development Corporation has Rs 2277.51 lakhs unpaid dues on account of electricity charges, Power Development Department with Rs 10,756.53 lakhs, Education Department with Rs 2866.40 lakhs, Rural Development Department with Rs 1062.95 lakhs, SRTC with Rs 1036.37 lakhs, Street Lights with Rs 3353.88 lakhs and Tourism Department with Rs 3759. 05 lakhs.

The house was further informed that Information Department owes Rs 1199.04 lakhs to the government on account of electricity charges followed by Industry and Commerce Department with Rs 636.56 lakhs, Estates Department with Rs 1466.86 lakhs, Higher Education Department with Rs 873.41 lakhs, R&B Department with Rs1951.21 lakhs, Railways with Rs 2409. 76 lakhs, Floriculture Department with Rs 545.86 lakhs, Forest Department with Rs 999 lakhs and Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department with Rs 565.57 lakhs—(KNO)
