22 sittings held, 110 hours & 6 mins spent

8 bills passed, 36 pending

Jammu, Apr 04: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die on Saturday, marking the conclusion of the first-ever two-phase Budget Session in the Union Territory’s history.

The session, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), began on February 2, 2026, in Jammu and continued until February 20 before being adjourned for the Ramadan and Eid break. The second leg resumed on March 27, when the House approved the budget.

Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather informed that the House held 22 sittings, functioning for a total of 110 hours and six minutes. Eight government bills were introduced and all were passed.

Regarding Private Members’ business, 39 bills were received; of the 72 listed, 24 were taken up and two were introduced.

On questions, the Secretariat received 1,528 in total- 802 starred and 726 unstarred. Of these, 1,379 were listed, 151 were taken up, 144 disallowed, two withdrawn and three not listed. In addition, 331 supplementary queries were raised. The Assembly also received 110 calling attention notices, of which 63 were disallowed and 47 admitted; 26 were listed and all were taken up.

As many as 128 resolutions were received.  Of which 101 were admitted and 27 disallowed. Fourteen were listed, four were taken up, but none adopted. A total of 2,231 cut motions were received, of which 2,059 were allowed and 172 disallowed.

The Speaker thanked members for their participation and ministers for their dedication. He appreciated the Chief Minister for his involvement and acknowledged the role of the Chief Secretary, administrative secretaries, media including radio, Doordarshan, electronic and print, as well as the Home Department, police and Assembly staff for ensuring the smooth conduct of proceedings.
