2 days orientation programme on Sustainable Sewage Treatment Technologies commences in Anantnag

ANANTNAG, APRIL 08: Two Days Orientation Programme on efficient Operation and Maintenance and Sustainable Treatment Technologies for Sewage Treatment Plants commenced Wednesday at Mehndi Kadal Anantnag.

 The program is being organised by UEED in collaboration with JAKNAP Projects Private Limited.

The event, as per an official statement, was graced by Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Bilal Mohiud Din Bhat as Chief Guest and witnessed active participation of SE and Exen UEED, other engineers, technical and field staff of the department.

In his address, the DC laid focus on greater public awareness of sewage network and sewage treatment technologies for safeguarding the environment towards a better future. He said there is high need the younger generation including youth and students are acquainted about these modern scientific techniques and practices so they contribute towards sustainable and balanced development.

Dr. Bilal described modern sewage treatment plants as essential public utilities especially amid growing urban needs and challenges and urged the participants to preserve water bodies through responsible and proactive approach.

The programme is aimed to enhance the technical knowledge and operational skills of engineers, field staff, and stakeholders involved in the management of sewage treatment infrastructure.

On the first day, experts and resource persons delivered insightful sessions on best practices in operation and maintenance (O&M), energy-efficient processes, sludge management, and adoption of sustainable and cost-effective treatment technologies.

 Interactive discussions and knowledge-sharing segments allowed participants to exchange field experiences and practical solutions.

Additionally, over the course of two days, the sessions will focus on addressing key challenges faced in the functioning of STPs, including process optimization, troubleshooting, regulatory compliance, and overall efficiency and performance.

The initiative reflects a strong commitment of the department towards improving sanitation infrastructure and environmental protection and is expected to strengthen the capacity of personnel and long-term sustainability of sewage treatment systems.
