ANANTNAG, APRIL 08: To address the concerns and grievances of the local community and ensure efficient public service delivery, the District Development Commissioner(DDC) Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohiud Din Bhat Wednesday convened a Public Durbar and outreach cum grievance redressal camp, at Rasool Mir Auditorium, Dooru.
The program was attended by ADC, CPO, ACD, CAO, CEO, CAHO, DD Fisheries, ARTO, ALC, BMO, BDOs, CDPO, Exens R&B, PHE & PDD, AEEs, TSWO, EO MC, officials from various other departments besides Ex DDC & PRI members and representatives from SHGs, civil society and general public.
During the program, the DDC gave a patient hearing to the residents who raised issues pertaining to road connectivity, healthcare services, banking facilities, rationalization of teaching staff and school infrastructure, beautification and tourism promotion, electricity bills, ration stores, irrigation facilities, urban amenities and infrastructure, relocation of government offices, mong others.
The demands included upgradation of Anantnag Dooru Verinag Road and widening of Sabdran & Dooru bridges, Mini Secretariat at Dooru, specialists at SDH Dooru, commissioning of Water Filtration Plant, parking space, public toilets and solar lights in town areas, development of Rasool Mir & Bakhshi Park, construction of Munsif Court and shopping complexes, beautification of Dooru Lisser Road, Bus Service from Dooru to Srinagar and aligning movement of SRTC Buses with school timing in Kapran, career counseling programs for students and youth, irrigation facilities in Dooru, Bragam, Nowpora and Nathipora areas, utilisation of services of Marriage Hall at Mehmoodabad, water supply to Naidpora and Larkipora, Naidpora-Hakura, Arampora & Trajan Nowgam Nad Road construction, ambulance for hilly areas of Shahabad, connecting Kapran with ADV Road widening, minimising wild animal attacks in upper areas, separate PDD feeders, culvert bridge, circular road and children park Nowgam, upgradation of Verinag Qazigund Road, fencing of retrieved state land, construction of HS Batagund and Samagra School Chowgund, SBI Branch Qamar Shahabad, Kapran Drangmang Filtration Plant and playfields for Gawas and other areas.
The DDC issued on spot directions to revenue authorities to identify suitable land required for Schools at Batagund and Chowgund in consultation with the School Education Department.
R&B and Revenue authorities were instructed to take appropriate actions on ADV and other roads as demanded by the public. Directions were issued to PHE Department to submit a detailed report on the alternate source proposed for Water Supply Schemes under JJM for Naidpora and Larkipora Villages.
Regarding Water Filtration Plant Dooru, the PHE authorities informed that the same will be commissioned within next 2-3 weeks while as 95 percent work has been completed on Kapran Drangmang Filtration Plant.
ARTO was directed to explore the feasibility of Dooru Srinagar Bus Service as well as changing the timing of SRTC Buses for students in Kapran areas. ULB and Revenue authorities were asked to make field survey to provide parking space and public toilets in urban areas.
Addressing the gathering, the DDC assured that major issues would be taken up with the suitable authorities and emergent ones shall be resolved by the concerned departments in a time bound manner. For sustainable, inclusive and holistic development, it is imperative that people participate in planning process at grassroot level, he remarked.
Terming public welfare paramount responsibility of district administration, the DDC enjoined upon the officers to visit the panchayats and villages frequently and get valuable feedback from the people so that the beneficiary oriented schemes and development initiatives are implemented effectively.
Regarding playfields, the DDC said these facilities will be developed at Panchayats and the existing sports infrastructure will also be upgraded across the district.
Advising youth to avail benefits of self employment and livelihood generation schemes, the DDC asked the concerned departments to create proper awareness of the flagship initiatives like Mission YUVA, HADP, Spurring Entrepreneurship, PMEGP etc. and conduct awareness/registration camps in far flung areas of the district for their facilitatitation and enrollment. He further asked the people to engage with the administration on fight against drug abuse so that this menace is eliminated from the society.
At conclusion, the DDC said there is need to conduct more such camps in the area and assured public that the outreach will continue in near future.
Local public and civil society members hailed the initiative hoping such programs will be held in routine for their overall welfare and community development.
