BANDIPORA, APRIL 20: Government Degree College (GDC) Sumbal on Monday organised an awareness programme on drug de-addiction at its auditorium under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl, featuring a powerful theatrical performance aimed at sensitising students about substance abuse.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sumbal, Murtaza Ahmad, attended the programme as chief guest, urged students to stay vigilant and committed towards a drug-free society.

The Principal underscored the role of educational institutions in promoting awareness and responsible citizenship.

The highlight of the programme, as per an official statement, was the staging of the play “Kanjoos” by Karam Buland Folk Theatre, introduced by  Nissar Naseem. The performance effectively depicted the harsh realities and far-reaching impact of drug addiction, leaving a strong impression on the audience.

As part of the event, video clips under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) were presented by Convenor NMBA, Prof. Aijaz ur Rehman, highlighting the serious consequences of drug abuse.

The event reinforced awareness and collective resolve to combat drug abuse.
