BARAMULLA, APRIL 20: Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Baramulla, Nisar Ahmad Monday chaired a review meeting of charge officers at the DC office meeting hall here to assess the preparedness for the upcoming Census 2027 exercise in the district.

During the meeting, as per an official statement, detailed discussions were held on the roles and responsibilities at the charge level to ensure smooth and timely execution of the census operations.

Emphasis was laid on the creation of House Listing Blocks (HLBs) and accurate mapping of villages to facilitate systematic enumeration. The officers were directed to ensure that all necessary groundwork is completed well in advance to avoid any last-minute challenges.

During the meeting, the CPO stressed on the charge officers to finalize the list of supervisors and enumerators, ensuring that the selected personnel possess a basic understanding of technology to effectively handle digital tools and applications associated with the census process.

To strengthen capacity building, the CPO highlighted the need for organizing training sessions in batches for enumerators and supervisors which will focus on familiarizing field staff with census procedures, digital platforms, and data collection methodologies.

Underscoring the importance of public participation, the CPO called for a robust Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign at the grassroots level and hold Special Gram Sabhas across all the 402 panchayats and municipal wards to raise awareness about the significance of the census and to encourage active public participation.

The CPO reiterated the importance of coordinated efforts, timely execution, and community involvement in making Census 2027 a success, urging all stakeholders to work with commitment and diligence towards achieving the objectives of this vital national exercise.

The meeting was attended by the District Coordinator for census Baramulla and all the appointed charge officers.
