Intermittent rain spells, gusty winds likely across J&K till April end: MeT

Srinagar, Apr 23: Weatherman on Thursday predicted that Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness intermittent spells of light rain and thundershowers till end of April.

A MeT official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that no major weather activity is expected during the period, except brief spells of rain and thunderstorms around April 24–25 and again on April 28.

On April 23, the weather is likely to remain partly cloudy, with a possibility of brief light rain, thunder and gusty winds at isolated places towards the late afternoon.

For April 24 and 25, the MeT office has predicted partly to generally cloudy conditions, with one or two brief spells of light rain or thundershowers at scattered to many places. Gusty winds are also likely at a few locations during afternoon and evening hours.

The weather is expected to remain largely dry on April 26 and 27, although brief light rain may occur at isolated places during the afternoon.

On April 28, generally cloudy conditions are expected, with light rain or thunder at a few places. Similar conditions are likely to continue on April 29 and 30, with brief spells of light rain at isolated locations, mainly during late afternoon hours.

For May 1 and 2, the MeT has forecast generally cloudy skies with brief spells of light rain or thundershowers at a few places towards late afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre issued an advisory for farmers, asking them to suspend farm operations on April 24 and 25 in view of the expected weather conditions.

The department has also cautioned about possible gusty winds during afternoon and evening hours on some days. (KNO)
