Inaugurates ESIC Hospital in Budgam

Budgam, Apr 24: Asserting that workers’ welfare is key to nation’s growth, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday said that the country’s development depends largely on the contribution of its workforce.

Addressing the inaugural function of a 30-bedded ESIC hospital at Ompora, the Minister, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “The government is committed to strengthening the welfare of labourers.”

Mandaviya said that the hospital, set up under the Employees State Insurance Corporation scheme, will provide affordable and quality treatment to insured workers.

He said the number of people covered under ESIC has increased significantly over the years, growing from around 7 crore beneficiaries in 2014 to nearly 14 crore at present.

Highlighting the importance of accessible healthcare, Mandaviya said labourers often face financial challenges in getting proper treatment, which affects their families as well.

He said that several schemes have been introduced to provide medical support ranging from Re 1 to Rs 1 crore.

The Minister also announced that a nursing college will be established at the hospital in the coming time, along with training facilities to strengthen healthcare services in the area.

Referring to sports development, he said the government is working to provide better opportunities for youth and is committed to India’s preparations for hosting the 2036 Olympics. (KNO)
