Baramulla’s young athletes shine in multi-zonal school competitions

BARAMULLA, MAY 04: DYSS Baramulla continues its relentless drive to promote sports culture and youth engagement across the district, with a series of Inter-School Zonal Level Competitions being successfully conducted in multiple zones, witnessing overwhelming participation and enthusiasm among students.

Zone Dangerpora Monday organized an Inter-School Under-14 event at AFI Dangerpora, drawing participation from an impressive 420 students representing both government and private institutions.

The event was graced by Mushtaq Sopori, Principal Higher Secondary School Dangerpora, as the Chief Guest. He lauded the department’s efforts in nurturing young talent and encouraged students to actively engage in sports for their holistic development.

Meanwhile, Zone Pattan successfully conducted an Inter-School Chess Competition for Under-14 and Under-17 boys at GHSS Pattan under the banner of the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan. The competition witnessed the participation of 42 young chess enthusiasts, showcasing strategic brilliance and competitive spirit.

In a similar stride, Zone Singhpora Kalan is actively conducting an Inter-School Badminton Competition for Under-14 and Under-17 girls at GHSS Singhpora Kalan, where budding athletes are demonstrating remarkable skill and determination.

Adding further momentum, Zone Dangiwacha organized an Inter-Cluster/Zonal Level Volleyball Competition for Under-14 and Under-17 boys on May 4, 2026. The event recorded vibrant participation across clusters. In Cluster Behrampora, 180 students in U-14 and 48 students in U-17 categories participated.

 Additionally, at the zonal level in Dangiwacha, 180 students in U-14 and 84 students in U-17 categories showcased their sporting talent.

The event saw an outstanding total participation of 492 students, reflecting immense enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
