Sopore, May 04: Cabinet Minister Javed Ahmad Dar on Monday rejected rumours of a split within the ruling Jammu & Kashmir National Conference as baseless.

Speaking to reporters in Sopore, the minister termed the reports of an internal rift as baseless. Dismissing the speculation, he said there is no such development, while urging people not to pay heed to rumours.

On Panchayat elections, Dar said the polls will be held at an appropriate time, but refrained from sharing any timeline. “The government will take a call on the polls at a suitable stage”, he said without elaborating further on the schedule or preparations.

The minister also declined to comment on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s recent remarks on the Urdu language, saying it would not be appropriate for him to speak after the Chief Minister.

Reacting to the outcome of the West Bengal elections, Dar said electoral wins and losses are part of a democratic process. He said people have exercised their mandate and voted for change—(KNO)
