Budgam, May 04: The Traffic Police Rural Kashmir has issued a detailed advisory announcing traffic restrictions and diversions in Budgam town on May 5 in view of a mega rally (Padyatra) being organised under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, officials said.

According to the advisory, the movement of vehicular traffic through Budgam town shall remain affected from 0700 hours to 1400 hours, with the town declared a no-traffic zone during the specified time. Motorists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel through Budgam to prevent inconvenience.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is scheduled to inaugurate the mega padyatra at the New Bus Stand, Budgam, which is expected to witness a significant public gathering and movement. The event is part of a public outreach initiative aimed at spreading awareness under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

To ensure smooth traffic flow, authorities have devised a re-routing and diversion plan. Traffic from Beerwah and Magam towards Srinagar will be diverted at Mirgund via Khumani Chowk to Bemina. Similarly, vehicles from Humhama heading towards Budgam will be rerouted via Ompora–Narkara–Gangbugh towards Srinagar.

Traffic from Khansahib via Ichgam towards Budgam will be diverted through alternative routes, including Gudsathoo, Panzan, Chadoora and Kralpora. Additionally, vehicles coming from Jawalapora will be diverted near the Crusher point via Lakhripora, Pallar and Mirgund towards Bemina.

Authorities have also designated multiple halting points, including Durbugh Crossing, Chadoora, Ompora, Ichgam and Mirgund, where traffic will either be halted or diverted to minimise congestion.

Traffic Police have urged the general public to cooperate with the arrangements and follow the advisory to ensure hassle-free movement during the event—(KNO)
