RAMBAN, MAY 7: To review preparations for the observance of World Red Cross Day and finalise the action plan for humanitarian activities in the district, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ramban Varunjeet Singh Charak Thursday chaired a meeting to discuss arrangements for organising awareness and service-oriented programmes under the banner of the Indian Red Cross Society.
The meeting, as per an official statement, was attended by ACR Shokat Hayat Mattoo; Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kamal Jee Zadoo; Chief Education Officer Shakeel-Ur-Rehman; ARTO Varun Bhasin; DSWO Sahil Bhagotra; Tehsildar Headquarters Reejuta Mahajan, representatives from NGOs and other concerned officers.
During the meeting, the ADC reviewed preparations for the district-level observance of World Red Cross Day and took stock of activities planned to promote humanitarian values, public awareness and voluntary blood donation across the district.
Detailed discussions were held regarding the organisation of a Mega Blood Donation Camp at District Hospital on May 8, besides awareness campaigns, IEC initiatives and public outreach programmes.
The ADC issued necessary directions to all concerned officers for the smooth conduct of the programmes and stressed close inter-departmental coordination for the successful observance of the day. He directed the Chief Medical Officer to formulate a comprehensive roadmap for organising similar blood donation camps in other medical blocks during the week-long Red Cross Day celebrations to strengthen voluntary blood donation initiatives and ensure adequate availability of blood for emergency medical needs.
Emphasising the significance of such humanitarian initiatives, the ADC said these efforts play a vital role in fostering social responsibility and community participation, while reaffirming the district administration’s commitment to promoting the spirit of service, compassion and humanitarian values.
