DC Shopian reviews Eid-ul-Azha preparedness

SHOPIAN, MAY 07: In view of the forthcoming auspicious festival of Eid al-Azha, Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Shishir Gupta Thursday chaired a comprehensive meeting to review and finalize arrangements for smooth celebration of the festival across the district.

During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner, as per an official statement, took stock of the availability and supply of essential commodities including meat, poultry, vegetables and other daily use items in markets.

Directions were issued to ensure uninterrupted availability of quality essentials at notified rates for the convenience of the general public.

Threadbare discussions were held on security arrangements, smooth regulation of traffic, uninterrupted power and drinking water supply, sanitation measures, healthcare facilities, fire and emergency preparedness besides market checking across the district.

Deputy Commissioner also reviewed arrangements regarding establishment of mandis for sale of sacrificial animals and stressed upon proper management and monitoring at all designated locations.

To ensure cleanliness and hygiene during the festival days, the concerned departments were directed to identify suitable sites for scientific disposal of qurbani animal waste and maintain proper sanitation in urban as well as rural areas.

The meeting further discussed coordination with Auqaf Committees to facilitate smooth conduct of congregational prayers and related arrangements at Eidgahs and major mosques across the district.

Officers were instructed to remain available in the field, work in close coordination and ensure prompt response to public grievances so that people celebrate the festival in a peaceful, smooth and hassle-free manner.

Among others the meeting was attended by SSP, Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Choudhary, ADDC Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, ADC Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz, ACR, Shakoor Ahmed Dar, SDM Zainapora, Bilal Ahmed and officers from civil administration, Police.
