Srinagar, May 12: In a significant move, the Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly will soon reconstitute House committees, sources disclosed.

Sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather is expected to constitute House committees, including three financial committees, for the year 2026–27. “The constitution of the committees is expected to be finalized within the next few days,” sources said, adding that the three financial committees -the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the Estimates Committee, and the Public Undertakings Committee (PUC)-will be among those to be constituted.

The terms all committees, except Committee Jal Jeevan Mission, had come to end on March 31, 2026.

On April 02,the  Legislative Assembly had granted two months’ extension to the House Committee on Jal Jeevan Mission to submit its report.

For the financial year 2025-26, the Speaker constituted the House Committee on May 28, 2025. (KNO)
