Hails Army’s pivotal role in establishing peace in UT

Reiterates ‘Operation Sindoor’ not over yet

Srinagar, Oct 24: Stating that post abrogation of Article 370 the streets of Jammu and Kashmir are filled with hope instead of unrest, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday lauded the army for playing a pivotal role in establishing peace in the Union Territory.

Speaking at the ongoing Army Commanders’ Conference in Jaisalmer, Rajnath Singh, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said, “PM Modi’s historical move to abrogate Article 370 integrated J&K with the rest of the country. Post-abrogation, the streets of the region are now filled with hope instead of unrest.”

He said that people of J&K are confident about their future being secure. “They have become the masters of their own destiny as the decision-making lies in their own hands,” Singh said.

The Defence Minister said that Army has been a pillar of peace in Jammu and Kashmir and has played a crucial role in establishing peace in the region.

Describing Operation Sindoor as an embodiment of India’s military prowess and national character, Singh said that it was a demonstration by the soldiers that their strength lies not only in weapons, but also in their ethical discipline and strategic clarity. “Operation Sindoor will go down in history as not just a military operation, but also a symbol of the nation’s courage and restraint. The action taken by our forces against terrorists was in keeping with both policy precision and human dignity. The operation isn’t over. Our mission for peace will continue as long as even a single terrorist mindset remains alive,” he said.

The Minister also noted that the action taken by the Indian Armed Forces against terrorists during Operation Sindoor reflected both policy precision and respect for human dignity.

He stated that the action has given rise to a new strategic thinking that India responds to any terrorist activity on its own terms. “This is New India’s Defence Doctrine, which embodies both resolve and courage,” he said.

Referring to the recent de-escalation process in the eastern Ladakh areas of Demchok and Depsang following a series of talks between India and China on October 24, the Defence Minister said that the ongoing dialogue and de- escalation steps have demonstrated India’s balanced and firm foreign policy. “Our policy is clear that there will be dialogue and our readiness on the border will remain intact,” he said.
