SHOPIAN, MAY 19: As part of the ongoing 100 Day Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, a series of awareness, yoga and sports activities were conducted across different schools and zones of district Shopian Tuesday to spread the message of a drug-free and healthy society.

The activities, as per an official statement, were aimed at sensitizing students and the general public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging youth to adopt a positive, disciplined and healthy lifestyle.

Students, teachers, staff members and community participants took active part in the programmes and expressed their commitment towards the cause of Nasha Mukt Abhiyan.

Awareness programmes were held in several educational institutions, where students and staff participated in pledge-taking and awareness activities were informed about the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of collective responsibility in preventing drug addiction.

As part of the Abhiyan, yoga sessions were organized across schools and other venues, with participation from students and staff.

The AYUSH Department also conducted yoga related activities, highlighting the importance of physical fitness, mental well-being and a balanced lifestyle in keeping youth away from drugs.

Sports activities were also held at various locations to engage students in constructive and healthy pursuits. Events such as Kabaddi, basketball and cricket were organized under the banner of Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.

A cricket match was also held at Zainapora, where Kabaddi and other sports activities witnessed enthusiastic participation from students.

In addition, awareness rallies, pledge ceremonies and symbolic activities such as balloon release with anti drug messages were conducted to spread the message of “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life” among the wider community.

The day long activities reflected the collective efforts of schools, departments and local stakeholders in promoting awareness against drug abuse.

The campaign emphasized that prevention, awareness, sports, yoga and community participation are key tools in protecting the younger generation from the menace of drugs.
