DC Srinagar reviews construction progress

SRINAGAR, MAY 20: Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo Wednesday undertook a visit to Zewan area of District to oversee the progress of ongoing works being executed on construction of Migrant Transit Accommodation for PM Package Employees.

He also inspected progress of works on the new Revenue Complex to house Tehsil Office Panthachowk.

During the visit, the DC, as per an official statement, was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aadil Fareed,  IAS Probationer, Alfred Thomas, Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Superintending Engineer R&B, Tatheer Manzoor, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Umar Gulzar, Executive Engineer R&B, Executive Engineer PDD, Executive Engineer PHE, Tehsildar Panthachowk and other concerned Officers.

While reviewing the status of works at the Migrant Transit Accommodation site at Zewan, the Deputy Commissioner was informed that the project comprises of 39 accommodation blocks with a total of 936 flats. Out of these, construction of 33 blocks has been completed, while finishing works on the remaining six blocks are progressing steadily.

He was further apprised that allied infrastructure works including boundary wall, dormitory, security pickets, community hall, pipe culverts and interior roads has already been completed. In addition, installation of all 39 distribution transformers and related power infrastructure has been setup, while water supply to the accommodation facility has also been made functional.

 On the occasion, the DC inspected the lifts installed in the accommodation blocks and was informed that 10 lifts have already been commissioned. He directed the concerned executing agency to ensure completion of lift installation in 16 additional blocks in the shortest possible time.

The DC also instructed the R&B Department to initiate macadamization works on the approach roads and emphasized the need for close coordination among all departments and executing agencies to ensure timely completion of the project.

 Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited Panthachowk to inspect the ongoing construction of the new Tehsil Office complex being executed by the R&B Department. He was informed that nearly 90 percent of the work on the new Tehsil Office building has been completed. The complex comprises the Tehsildar’s Courtroom, Naib Tehsildar Office, Establishment Section, Record Room and a Waiting area for visitors.

On the occasion, the DC directed the executing agency to further accelerate the pace of work to ensure completion of the project by the first week of June 2026 and hand over the building to the Tehsildar Panthachowk to significantly enhance delivery of revenue services to the public and provide an improved working environment for the staff.
