Reviews progress of developmental works, availability of essential services in Stresses quality, timely execution of projects in Uri

URI, MAY 20: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary on Wednesday chaired a meeting of senior officers at Officer’s Club Uri to review the availability of essential services, basic facilities and progress of developmental works across the Uri Sub Division.

The meeting was attended by MLA Uri Dr. Sajjad Shafi, Chief Engineer R&B North Kashmir, Chief Engineer PMGSY, Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Sub Divisional Magistrate Uri, Joint Director Mining and other senior officers of the district administration and line departments.

During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister, as per an official statement, stressed the need for prompt service delivery, robust development and seamless public outreach to ensure amicable redressal of genuine public grievances. He directed the officers to remain accessible to the people and ensure time-bound disposal of developmental and welfare issues.

Reviewing the progress on ongoing infrastructure projects, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized quality execution and timely completion of works. He instructed the officers to conduct regular and random inspection of projects to ensure strict adherence to the prescribed guidelines and SOPs.

The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the status of road connectivity projects in Uri. He said that around 20 road projects have been undertaken in the area during the last one and a half years while additional projects are in the pipeline and will be taken up for execution soon.

He stressed that developmental initiatives should ensure better connectivity and improved living standards for the people living in remote villages. He said that the government is committed to ensure that villages are provided facilities at par with cities so that local youth can realize their aspirations and dreams.

While reviewing the gypsum mining operations in the area, he stressed that mining activities should directly benefit the local communities and directed concerned officers to ensure transparency and environmental safeguards in all related operations.

The Deputy Chief Minister further instructed that the road works under SASCI and permanent restoration works should be expedited. He directed that mining funds be effectively utilized for road repairs and macadamization in the area.

He called for uninterrupted potable water and electricity supply to the local villages. Directions were given for holding labour card registration to ensure maximum coverage of local labourers under different schemes and welfare initiatives.
