KATHUA, MAY 26: Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma Tuesday chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of works being executed under the District Capex Budget 2026-27, MLA Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) in the district.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed appraisal of the ongoing developmental works across various sectors, including Health, School Education, Rural Development Department (RDD), JPDCL and other departments. He also reviewed the status of works being undertaken under DDC, BDC and PRI grants.

Emphasising the need for timely execution of projects, the Deputy Commissioner, as per an official statement, directed all executing agencies to prioritise the completion of ongoing works by ensuring both physical and financial progress within the stipulated timelines. He stressed that the developmental benefits of these projects should reach the public without delay.

During the meeting, it was informed that under the MLA Constituency Development Fund, a total of 748 works have been accorded administrative approval. Of these, 727 works have been tendered, 713 allotted and 699 works have been started, while 542 works have already been completed during the current financial year.

Reviewing the progress under MPLADS, the meeting was informed that against 47 works sanctioned under the 2023-24 allocation, 37 works have been completed. Similarly, under the 2024-25 and 2025-26 allocations, 140 works have been completed out of a total of 160 sanctioned works. The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the progress of preparation of estimates for works proposed under the current fiscal.

The Deputy Commissioner exhorted the executing agencies and concerned departments to ensure creation of quality assets and maintain strict adherence to prescribed standards. He directed the officers to closely monitor the performance of contractors and take appropriate action against those failing to meet quality benchmarks or timelines.

Among others, ADC, Mahima Madan, CPO Ranjeet Thakur, ACD Akhil Sadotra, XEN REW, CEO Kathua and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
