BUDGAM, MAY 30: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), a series of awareness, wellness and enforcement activities were conducted across various educational institutions and locations in Budgam district to strengthen the fight against drug abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free society.
An awareness drive was organized at GDC Magam, where students were sensitized about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraged to act as ambassadors of change in their communities. Similarly, GDC Beerwah conducted a pledge-taking ceremony against drug abuse, with students and faculty reaffirming their commitment to a drug-free future.
To promote physical and mental well-being as an effective safeguard against addiction, a Yoga session was organized at Government Higher Secondary School Wathoora. Students actively participated in various yoga practices and were encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyle choices.
Meanwhile, HSS Dragger also organized awareness activities under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, educating students about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of staying away from intoxicants.
In a parallel enforcement initiative, the Excise Department Budgam conducted inspections of pharmacies at Aripathan, Kandhama, Gamboora, Ichkoot, Ichgam, Kremshore and Drygam to ensure compliance with regulations governing the sale and distribution of medicines. The inspections were aimed at preventing the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs and strengthening measures against substance abuse.
These coordinated efforts reflect the District administration’s continued commitment towards creating awareness, promoting healthy living and ensuring strict enforcement of regulations to achieve the objectives of a Nasha Mukt Budgam.
