Srinagar, May 31: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and unauthorised extraction of minerals, J&K Police in Pulwama registered a case regarding illegal excavation at Puchal near Dairy Farm, seizing an L&T machine and a tipper involved in the activity.

Acting on reliable information, Police Station Pulwama received inputs that an L&T machine was being used for unauthorized excavation, causing damage to government land. The excavated material was being loaded into a tipper and transported without any lawful authority or permission, a police spokesperson said.

Acting promptly, a police party reached the spot and seized both the L&T machine and the tipper involved in the illegal activity.

Accordingly, Case FIR No. 103/2026 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3 of the PPD Act has been registered, and an investigation has been set into motion.

Police remains committed to taking strict action against illegal mining and damage to public property and appealed to the general public to share information regarding such unlawful activities.
