Visits Bandipora, interacts with public delegations

BANDIPORA, OCTOBER 25: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana Saturday visited Bandipora and interacted with dozens of delegations at Gujjar and Bakerwal Boys (G&BB) Hostel here.

The Minister was accompanied by legislators Nazir Ahmad Khan, Nizamuddin Bhat and Hilal Akbar Lone along with senior officers of district administration during the visit.

The aim of the visit was to get a firsthand account of the developmental concerns in the region so as to align government policies with the actual needs and priorities of the region.

The deputations representing local residents, students and community leaders raised key issues pertaining to the region like youth unemployment, poor infrastructure & daily hardships.

During the meeting, delegations expressed the urgent need to upgrade the region’s infrastructure and address other essential requirements. The representatives highlighted the importance of improving roads, transportation networks, healthcare services, educational institutions and communication systems.

They also stressed the need for better water supply, power distribution and sanitation facilities to enhance the overall quality of life and promote sustainable economic growth in the region.

Discussions also focused on Forest Rights Act implementation, cultural preservation and holistic upliftment in education and infrastructure.

Minister Rana gave a patient hearing to the grievances and assured the delegations a dedicated review of their grievances, pledging comprehensive and time-bound measures for accelerated and inclusive development of the area.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to balancing environmental conservation with sustainable development, ensuring that all proposals and measures align with broader ecological and social objectives.

This outreach by the Forest Minister underscores a holistic and responsive governance approach, making it clear that infrastructure development, upgradation of facilities, tribal needs and employment will be central themes in Bandipora’s development agenda moving forward.

Earlier, Minister conducted a thorough inspection of the Gujjar and Bakerwal Boys Hostel and called upon the concerned for improving hostel infrastructure, with particular attention to the urgent requirement for enhanced facilities, increased accommodation capacity and upgraded amenities for Gujjar and Bakerwal youth pursuing higher studies.

He maintained that the provision of all modern facilities is essential to address the existing gaps and to foster a conducive environment that supports both the academic and personal growth of students.

He underscored the government’s commitment to improving the living conditions and educational environment of tribal students.
