Block Diwas : DDC Anantnag assures time bound resolution of public grievances

ANANTNAG, JUNE 03: To address the concerns and grievances of the local community and ensure efficient public service delivery, the District Development Commissioner(DDC) Anantnag, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat Wednesday visited Srigufwara and convened a Block Diwas cum grievance redressal camp at Tehsil Office, Srigufwara.

The programme, as per an official statement, was attended by ADC, SDM and Tehsildar Bijbehara, BDO, officials from Health, Education, R&B, PDD, PHE, I&FC, Agriculture, Horticulture, Banks and other departments besides Ex PRI and civil society members and local public.

During the program, the DDC gave a patient hearing to the residents who raised issues pertaining to surface connectivity and widening of roads, healthcare services, school infrastructure, beautification and tourism promotion, water and power supply including infrastructure and utilities, functioning of lift irrigation facilities, public transport including bus/taxi stands, telecom connectivity in upper reaches, compensation for crop damage by adverse weather, relocation of government offices, encroachment on state land, rural sanitation, release of wages under MGNREGA, among others.

Addressing the gathering, the DDC assured that major issues would be taken up with the suitable authorities and emergent ones shall be resolved by the concerned departments in a time bound manner. He issued on spot directions to the concerned authorities for prompt redressal of genuine public concerns ensuring efficient and hassle free service delivery.

Terming people’s welfare paramount responsibility of district administration, the DDC said that such programs help to get valuable public feedback so that necessary measures can be taken as per their requirement and local aspirations. He directed the revenue authorities to take immediate action on certain grievances raised by locals related to land access, encroachment, etc during the outreach program.

At conclusion, the DDC said there is need to conduct more such camps in the area and assured public that the outreach will continue in near future.

 Local public and civil society members hailed the initiative hoping such programs will be held in routine for their overall welfare and community development.

Following the Block Diwas, the DDC visited PHC Srigufwara to take stock of the health care facilities being provided by the centre. He interacted with the medical staff, officials and patients and inspected various sections of PHC. He further directed the staff to ensure compliance with the duty roaster and provide all available services to the patients in a smooth manner. 

The DDC was accompanied by ADC, SDM, Tehsildar, Medical Officer and other concerned officials.

Later, the DDC visited HSS Srigufwara to assess it’s functioning and inquire about any issues faced by the educational institution. He interacted with the staff and students to take their valuable feedback and suggestions to enhance the educational and learning outcomes in the school.

Asking the students to focus on education and sports, the DDC advised them to channel their energy on productive activities so they become responsible citizens and realise their career ambitions. 

Engaging in a question answer session with students, the DDC said that they can pursue their careers in different fields as per their abilities and interests.
