Night-long Shab Khawani, Quran recitation; thousands of devotees expected

Kangan, Jun 06: The 130th annual Urs of Hazrat Mian Nizam-ud-Din Kiyanvi (RA) will be observed on June 7 and 8 at Baba Nagri Wangath in Kangan, with elaborate arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of the two-day religious congregation.

Sajada Nasheen Mian Altaf Ahmad, speaking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that all preparations for the annual Urs have been completed and adequate arrangements for accommodation, food and other facilities have been made for devotees.

Mian Altaf, also an MP, said the Urs will commence on June 7 and conclude on June 8 with a special Dua-e-Majlis. The night-long religious programme will feature Shab Khawani, recitation of the Holy Quran, Khidmat, remembrance gatherings and sermons by Islamic scholars.

“The devotees visit this sacred place with deep faith and devotion. It is our responsibility to serve them, and we are fully prepared to welcome all those arriving from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir and outside the region,” he said.

Thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country are expected to participate in the annual Urs, which is marked by Quran recitation, religious sermons, collective prayers and remembrance of the teachings and spiritual legacy of Hazrat Mian Nizam-ud-Din Kiyanvi (RA).
