DC Budgam inspires students to pursue excellence with focus, discipline

BUDGAM, OCTOBER 28: The Institution Innovation Cell (IIC) and Career Counselling & Guidance Cell of Government Sheikh-ul-Alam Memorial Degree College, Budgam, in association with Exceptional IAS academy and in collaboration with district administration Budgam Tuesday organized an Orientation and Career Counselling Programme on Civil Services Examination. 

The programme aimed to create awareness and provide guidance to students and faculty members from the host and allied colleges regarding various aspects of Civil Services preparation and opportunities.

The event commenced with the launch of the college magazine “Rooh” by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, along with Principal of the College, Dr. Amin Malik.

The highlight of the event was an inspirational address by DC Budgam, who shared valuable insights from his own experience in successfully clearing multiple competitive examinations including JKAS, IFS,and IAS.

The DC emphasised that focus, discipline, and self-motivation are the cornerstones of success in Civil Services. He advised aspirants to strengthen their fundamentals, stay consistent, and approach preparation with a clear strategy.

He also encouraged students to cultivate a habit of reading newspapers, staying informed about current affairs, and maintaining ethical integrity as future administrators.

“Success in competitive examinations is not about shortcuts but about sustained effort, clarity of purpose, and belief in oneself,” DC budgam remarked.

He further inspired students by highlighting how perseverance, sincerity, and time management can turn aspirations into achievements.

Principal Sheikh-ul-alam degree collage budgam, Dr. Amin Malik underscored that students’ growing enthusiasm toward civil services marks a transition from personal development to nation-building. Drawing on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, he stated that a civil servant not only achieves self-fulfillment but also contributes meaningfully to societal progress.

Prof. Rukhsana Jabeen of Degree collage budgam in her welcome address shared motivational insights on achieving success, urging students to cultivate a clear vision and structured plan of action. She highlighted the importance of persistence, goal-setting, and self-belief in achieving excellence.

Later, the DC interacted extensively with the students, responding to their queries on exam preparation strategies, effective time management, and balancing academics with competitive exam study. His practical suggestions and personal anecdotes deeply motivated the participants.

Following the inaugural session, technical sessions were conducted by experts and recent qualifiers of UPSC and JKPSC Combined Competitive Examinations, who shared their preparation journeys, study techniques, and insights into the evolving patterns of competitive exams.

The programme concluded with an interactive discussion, where students expressed enthusiasm and appreciation for the initiative, terming it both informative and inspiring.
