Sopore, Jun 29: Security forces on Monday recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Warpora village of north Kashmir’s Sopore.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the joint operation was launched based on specific information received from local residents. The operation was carried out jointly by the Army, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF.

During the search operation, the joint team recovered one AK-47 rifle, three hand grenades, one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) and 30 rounds of ammunition concealed at the site.

The recovered arms and ammunition were seized and a case has been registered for further investigation.

Officials said the recovery has dealt a significant blow to terriorst networks by preventing the possible use of the weapons and explosives for subversive activities. They added that investigations are underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the recovered cache. (KNO)
