Reviews arrangements at Nunwan Base Camp

Srinagar, Jul 02: Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Thursday directed the officers to ensure thorough yet pilgrim-friendly security checks and maintain seamless movement of Amarnath Yatris.

According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) DGP Prabhat today visited the Nunwan Base Camp at Pahalgam to review the arrangements made for the smooth, safe, and hassle-free conduct of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.

He stressed the need for close coordination among all security agencies and civil administration to ensure a secure, peaceful, and hassle-free pilgrimage.

The DGP appreciated the dedication and commitment of the police personnel and other security forces deployed on Yatra duty. He urged them to remain alert, responsive, and compassionate while performing their responsibilities, ensuring that every pilgrim feels safe and well-assisted throughout the pilgrimage.

The DGP conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Base Camp and took stock of the facilities and arrangements made for the yatris. He reviewed the security arrangements, access control measures, deployment of police personnel, traffic regulation, emergency response preparedness, and other logistical arrangements to ensure the safety, security, and convenience of the pilgrims.

The DGP also interacted with police personnel deployed at the Base Camp and appreciated their dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment towards ensuring the successful conduct of the Yatra. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards of vigilance while adopting a pilgrim-friendly approach in the discharge of their duties.

CHAIRS SECURITY REVIEW MEETING AT NUNWAN BASE CAMP

Later, DGP Prabhat chaired a security review meeting at the Nunwan Base Camp, attended by senior police officers. The meeting focused on the prevailing security scenario, operational preparedness, deployment strategy, area domination, intelligence coordination, contingency planning, and measures to strengthen the overall security grid along the Yatra route.

The DGP directed the officers to maintain round-the-clock alertness, ensure effective supervision at all levels, and uphold close coordination among field formations for prompt response to any contingency.

He stressed that every possible measure should be taken to provide a safe, secure, and seamless pilgrimage experience for the yatris. (KNO)
