 ‘75 seasonal education volunteers engaged’

Srinagar, Oct 29: The Jammu and Kashmir government has informed the Legislative Assembly that funds amounting to over rupees 2,281 crore were released under the Samagra Shiksha Scheme during the last two years, while 75 Seasonal Educational Volunteers were engaged to impart education to children of migratory families.

As per official details tabled in reply to a question by MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah, the School Education Department said that during 2023–24, Rs 899.20 crore were released by the Finance Department under the Samagra Scheme, while Rs 925.18 crore were released during 2024–25.

The total availability of funds, as per the reply, includes opening balances and accrued interest, stood at rupees 1,228.44 crore in 2023–24, rupees 1,015.34 crore in 2024–25, and rupees 528.28 crore in 2025–26.

It says, out of these allocations, rupees 1,142.88 crore were utilised during 2023–24, followed by rupees 944.79 crore in 2024–25 and rupees 334.52 crore up to 2025–26, leaving an unspent balance of rupees 193.76 crore.

The government further stated that 75 Seasonal Educational Volunteers were engaged under the scheme to provide education to children of Seasonal Migratory Nomads, which includes 12 such volunteers in the Gulmarg constituency—(KNO)
