The Spirit Of Hospitality Must Continue

The annual Amarnath Yatra began. More than a pilgrimage, it is a reaffirmation of faith, a test of endurance, and a symbol of India’s pluralistic spirit. Kashmir once again demonstrated that its heart beats with the rhythm of hospitality, harmony, and hope. The grand welcome accorded to the yatris was a powerful reminder that Kashmir’s age-old tradition of warmth transcends politics and prejudice. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s flag-off of the convoy from Jammu set the tone for a pilgrimage marked by meticulous planning and spiritual fervour. The administration’s extensive arrangements, from healthcare and accommodation to sanitation and power supplies, reflect a commitment to ensuring that devotees can focus on their spiritual quest without distraction. The deployment of over 670 paramilitary companies, AI-powered surveillance, drones, and RFID tracking underscores the priority placed on safety. The launch of the ‘PEHCHAAN’ mobile app and the positioning of 30 Mountain Rescue Teams along the routes further demonstrate a tech-driven, pilgrim-centric approach. Yet, what truly set this year’s commencement apart was the warmth of the people. Officials, residents, and volunteers lined the routes, welcoming pilgrims with garlands, flowers, and sweets. For many first-time visitors, this hospitality exceeded expectations. The pilgrims praising the warmth shown by Kashmiris is the real victory of this pilgrimage. Authorities must ensure that this spirit of hospitality and seamless arrangements continues. Security must remain robust yet pilgrim-friendly, as emphasised by the police chief. Coordination between police, civil administration, and local communities must stay flawless. The suspension of helicopter services this year makes road and trek management even more critical. Every pilgrim, whether young or elderly, must feel safe, supported, and spiritually enriched. Kashmir has once again proven that it is not just a destination of breathtaking landscapes but also a land of open hearts. The Amarnath Yatra is a sacred journey, but it is also an opportunity to showcase the Valley’s enduring tradition of coexistence. The administration, security forces, and citizens must continue to work in unison to ensure this pilgrimage remains smooth, safe, and spiritually uplifting. The message is clear: Kashmir welcomes all with open arms, and this welcome must never fade.
