ADC Handwara reviews arrangements for Independence Day Celebrations 2026

KUPWARA, JULY 29: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Handwara, Javed Naseem Masoodi, chaired a comprehensive meeting of district and sectoral officers at the Environment Hall, Handwara, to review and finalize arrangements for the smooth, secure, and successful celebration of Independence Day 2026 across Sub-Division Handwara.

During the meeting, the ADC, as per an official statement, conducted a detailed review of the preparations being made by various departments and directed all concerned officers to ensure foolproof arrangements well in advance. He stressed the importance of close inter-departmental coordination to ensure that the celebrations are conducted in a befitting, dignified, and well-organized manner.

It was informed that the main Independence Day function will be held at the District Police Lines (DPL), Handwara, where the National Flag will be unfurled, followed by an impressive ceremonial parade and colourful cultural programmes showcasing patriotism and the rich cultural heritage of the region.

The ceremonial parade will witness the participation of contingents from the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), India Reserve Police (IRP), Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES), Home Guards, NCC cadets, school children, and the Police Band.

Besides, the main function at DPL Handwara, Independence Day celebrations will also be organized at all Tehsil Headquarters, Block Headquarters, and educational institutions across Sub-Division Handwara to ensure wider public participation in the national festivities.

The ADC directed the concerned departments to make adequate arrangements for security, traffic regulation, sanitation, drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, medical facilities, fire and emergency services, seating arrangements, public address system, barricading, parking facilities, venue decoration, illumination of important government buildings, and all other essential logistics. He further instructed all departments to ensure seamless coordination for rehearsals, timely deployment of staff, proper seating arrangements for dignitaries and the general public, and the completion of all assigned works well before the scheduled date. Special emphasis was laid on maintaining cleanliness, ensuring emergency preparedness, and facilitating the smooth movement of participants and spectators.

Emphasising the significance of the national occasion, the ADC urged all officers to work with dedication, commitment, and close coordination to make the celebrations memorable, befitting, and reflective of the spirit of patriotism, national unity, and public participation.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Superintendent of Police, Handwara, district and sectoral officers, and representatives of all line departments.
