Directs expedited completion of pending works

SHOPAIN, JULY, 30: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone Thursday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of works under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) across the district.

During the meeting, the ADDC, as per an official statement, reviewed the physical and financial progress of all ongoing JJM schemes, including overhead tanks, borewells, Rapid Sand Filtration (RSF) plants, pipe network laying, ground service reservoirs, mechanical works, electrical installations and the certification status of villages.

It was informed that out of 62 JJM schemes, 23 have been completed, while the remaining schemes are at various stages of execution. The meeting also reviewed the progress of 121 overhead tanks, borewells, filtration plants, pipe network works, mechanical and electrical installations, besides the status of village certification and Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs).

The district has achieved 42,234 Functional Household Tap Connections out of a target of 45,598, registering 92.62% coverage.

The ADDC stressed the need for timely completion of all pending works and directed the concerned officers to remove bottlenecks, improve inter-departmental coordination and ensure adherence to project timelines. He emphasized that every effort should be made to provide safe and reliable drinking water to all households at the earliest.

He also directed the Assistant Executive Engineers (Civil) to furnish estimates for constructing functional tube wells in the district to augment water supply, and instructed the Assistant Executive Engineer (Mechanical) to expedite mechanical works to ensure early commissioning of water supply schemes.

The meeting concluded with directions to all executing agencies to intensify field-level monitoring and submit regular progress reports to achieve the targets within the stipulated timeframe.

The meeting was attended by SE, Hydraulic, Shopian, Nazia Nazir; Executive Engineer, PHE, Abdul Rashid, AEEs, JEEs and other concerned who briefed the chair on the progress and achievements under the mission.
