7,507 pilgrims perform darshan
Srinagar, Aug 03: The Amarnath Yatra tally crossed 4.64 lakh on Monday as 7,507 pilgrims paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine, while a fresh batch of 1,056 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu for the Baltal base camp under tight security arrangements.
Figures available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), show that 7,507 pilgrims, including 5,623 men, 1,344 women, 106 children, 36 sadhus, 14 sadhvis, five transgender devotees and 379 security personnel, performed darshan on Monday, taking the cumulative number of pilgrims since the commencement of the Yatra on July 3 to 4,64,697.
The figures further show that the 26th batch of pilgrims departed from Bhagwati Nagar at 2:49 a.m. The batch comprised 832 men, 205 women, two children, 15 sadhus and two sadhvis. No convoy was dispatched via the Pahalgam route.
“The pilgrims travelled in a convoy of 46 vehicles, comprising 24 buses, seven medium motor vehicles (MMVs) and 15 light motor vehicles (LMVs), under a tight security escort,” an official said.
The official said that with the departure of the latest batch, the total number of pilgrims who have left the Jammu base camp for the ongoing pilgrimage has reached 1,40,748. (KNO)
