ANANTNAG, AUGUST 14. As part of the ongoing Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026, Partition Horrors Remembrance Day was solemnly observed Friday across District Anantnag to commemorate the sacrifices and struggles of millions during the 1947 Partition of India.
The main commemorative event, organized at Town Hall, Municipal Council Anantnag, was attended by Deputy Commissioner (DC), Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, alongside Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs), ACR, CPO, ACD, DSEO, and senior officers from the District Administration. Officials from various line departments, local youth, prominent civil society members, and citizens gathered in large numbers to mark the day.
The ceremony, as per an official statement, commenced with the playing of the National Song followed by the National Anthem. As a key feature of the program, poignant documentaries were screened showcasing the circumstances, consequences and horrors of the Partition on August 14, 1947.
The program concluded on a reverent patriotic note with the playing of the National Song and National Anthem.
Similar remembrance events were also held across various public offices, educational institutions, and other important places of the district.
