Srinagar, Aug 14: Amid reports that employees appointed under the Prime Minister’s Package had been asked to work from home ahead of Independence Day, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir Anshul Garg on Friday clarified that no such order has been issued. He urged people to rely on official government and administration channels for authentic information.

Responding to a query about reports that PM package employees had been verbally directed to work from home amid security concerns, Garg said, “No such orders have been issued in any way.”

He said the administration and security agencies have put in place necessary arrangements for the safety of employees, residents and the general public ahead of the Independence Day celebrations in Srinagar.

“We should rely on the authentic information channels that are provided by the government and the administration,” Garg said.

The Div Com also extended Independence Day greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and invited residents of Srinagar and across Kashmir to attend the main Independence Day function at Bakshi Stadium on Saturday.

He said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will unfurl the national flag and address the gathering at the stadium at 10 am. The Divisional Commissioner said a full dress rehearsal for the Independence Day function was held at Bakshi Stadium on Thursday, with parade contingents and cultural groups taking part in the preparations.

The Divisional Commissioner said the participants had been preparing for the event for around 20 days and were making efforts to ensure the programme is conducted successfully.

He further said security agencies had carried out a detailed review of the arrangements for the national event to ensure adequate security for all participants and visitors.

The Div Com urged people to participate in the Independence Day celebrations either at the main event in Srinagar or at functions organised in their respective districts—(KNO)
