BUDGAM, AUGUST 22: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, Saturday visited Qazibagh and Ichgam areas to identify and survey suitable land patches for the development of playfield facilities for the local youth and sports enthusiasts.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected various potential sites and shall explore the availability and suitability of land for the establishment of playfields in both areas.
The Deputy Commissioner, as per an official statement, directed the concerned officers to undertake the necessary survey and complete other requisite formalities for taking forward the development of sports infrastructure in both villages.
During visit and inspection of land patches, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with local youth delegations and sports lovers, who apprised him of their demands regarding the development of playfields and other sports facilities, including construction of approach roads, boundary walls and augmentation of essential infrastructure.
Urging the younger generation to embrace sports for positive growth and development, the Deputy Commissioner said, “Sports play a vital role in channelising the energy and potential of our youth in a positive direction. The District Administration is committed to creating better sporting infrastructure and providing adequate facilities to enable young people to participate and excel in sports.”
He further said that the development of playfields and sports infrastructure remains a priority of the District Administration, with focused efforts being made to provide youth with appropriate platforms to showcase their talent and promote a vibrant sports culture in society.
“We want our youth to have safe, accessible and well-equipped spaces where they can pursue and nurture their sporting talent. The District Administration will continue to work in coordination with the concerned departments and local communities to develop and improve sports facilities at the grassroots level,” he added.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by officers from the Roads & Buildings Department, Youth Services & Sports Department, Revenue Department and other concerned officials.
