KULGAM, AUGUST 24: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, Monday chaired a district level meeting of State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) to review the damages caused due to hailstorms across the district.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner, as per an official statement, undertook a detailed review of the villages affected by the recent hail storms in the district and took stock of the relief measures extended to the affected farmers.
He directed the concerned officers to ensure that the final assessment of damages is carried out in a time-bound and transparent manner, and that admissible relief is disbursed to the affected beneficiaries without delay.
The meeting also deliberated upon the provision of Anti-Hail Nets as a preventive measure to safeguard horticulture produce from future hailstorm-related losses. The DC directed the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments to identify vulnerable orchard belts and explore convergence with available schemes for wider coverage of Anti-Hail Nets across the district.
The DC further asked all concerned officers to remain proactive in disaster preparedness and to submit accurate and expeditious reports so that affected people get timely relief under SDRF norms.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam, Viqar Ahmed Giri, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Reyaz Ahmad Shah, Tehsildar, Kulgam Nisar Ahmad Wani, Tehsildar DH Pora, Zahid Gani, Chief Horticulture Officer, Mohd Ramzan War, and other officers and officials.
