Srinagar, Nov 05 (KNO): As devotees celebrated the 556th Prakash Diwas of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, senior officers from the police and civil administration on Wednesday visited Gurudwara Chhati Padshahi in Rainawari to pay obeisance and extend warm greetings to the Sikh community.

Accompanied by members of the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, the officials offered prayers at the sanctum and interacted with devotees.

The shrine reverberated with devotional hymns as a large number of people gathered to mark the revered occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi said he had come to the Guru’s sanctum to offer prayers and wish for peace, tranquility and prosperity across the region.

DC Srinagar Akshay Labroo, while extending greetings on behalf of the Srinagar administration, said, “On behalf of the district administration, I extend heartfelt greetings to our Sikh brothers on the auspicious occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti. We are committed to working closely with the Gurudwara committee to enhance, preserve and promote the spiritual and historical significance of this sacred shrine.”

SSP Srinagar Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy also extended greetings to the Sikh community, stating, “Srinagar Police extends warm greetings on Guru Nanak Jayanti. Proper security arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations. I am here with my department to join the community in marking this special day.”

Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg also highlighted Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s universal teachings of peace, equality and selfless service, saying Guru Nanak Ji taught unity among humankind, selfless service & social justice for the benefit and prosperity of all. “Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message of “Ik Onkar” — the oneness of all creation — continues to guide us towards universal love and brotherhood,” he said.

Meanwhile, a statement issued in this regards as accessed by KNO, reads; on the occasion of Prakash Diwas, marking the 556th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo along with Senior Superintendent of Police, Sandeep Chakraborty Wednesday paid visit to Gurudwara Chhati Padshahi in Rainawari area of the District to extended warm greetings on the occasion.

The statement reads, on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner and SSP accompanied by members of Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee paid obeisance to the Guru Granth Sahib. The Gurudwara authorities expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and conveyed their gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner in this regard.

“Addressing the devotees, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the immense contributions and universal teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He said that the teachings of the Sikh Gurus promote noble social institutions such as Langar, Sangat, and Kirtan teaching the spirit of equality and selfless service,” the statement reads.

It reads, while extending warm greetings on the occasion, the DC expressed hope that this event would contribute towards strengthening brotherhood, unity, harmony and would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity. During the visit, the DC also visited various compartments of the Gurudwara including Langer and took stock of the facilities being extended to the devotees.

“Meanwhile, District Administration Srinagar made all essential arrangements through several line departments at Chattipadshahi Gurudwara to facilitate devotees on the Prakash Diwas. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz; SDM East, Zubair Ahmad; Zonal SP, Tehsildar Khanyar, CMO, Exen KPDCL, Exen City Roads and other Officers were also present on the occasion,” the statement reads—(KNO)
