KATHUA, OCTOBER 01: Government Degree College Ramkote celebrated Gandhi Jayanti to spread the message of cleanliness, civic responsibility and community participation. The event was organised under overall guidance of Principal of the college Dr Rakesh Kumar Koul. The staff and students recalled his ideals of cleanliness, self-discipline and service to society.
As part of the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign 2026, the NSS Unit of the College organised a Mega Swachhata Rally, followed by Shramdan to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness and a hygienic environment. Nearly 70 students, along with faculty members and local residents, participated enthusiastically in the rally.
The rally, as per an official statement, started from the college campus and passed through the adjoining areas of the adopted village, covering the local lanes and Ramleela Ground, culminating at the Tehsil Office, Ramkote. The participants carried cleanliness-related banners, raised slogans, encouraging residents to maintain cleanliness and actively contribute towards creating a cleaner and healthier community.
The Shramdan activity provided an opportunity for students, faculty and community members to work together towards improving the cleanliness of the surrounding areas. The initiative reflected the spirit of collective responsibility and community engagement, while reinforcing Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and responsible society.
The programme concluded with an appeal to all participants and residents to make cleanliness a regular part of their daily lives and to continue contributing towards the objectives of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign.
